The most common modification done to a guitar or bass is a pickup upgrade. So many great OEM and aftermarket pickups are available in today's market, Which one should you choose? Ours of course!
Our pickups are designed after the most sought after vintage models. All bobbins are assembled and hand wound right here in our shop, and lightly potted in a beeswax and paraffin mix.
We use Alnico 2, 3, & 5 magnets depending on pick up model. Wire used is AWG 42, 43, or 44 of either plain enamel, formvar, or "Polysol" insulation depending on model.
We make pickups for Stratocaster, Telecaster and Gibson guitars, PAF and P-90 style.
We also make Gretcsh filtertron style pickups.
If you have a pick up that no longer functions and you want to get it working again to keep your instrument vintage, we offer a pickup rewinding service to restore it back to proper operation. We will use period correct wire size and insulation type and remagnatize the magnets if needed. All rewinds will be researched and rewound according to original specifications for its proper vintage. This maintains your guitars original sound and makes it as close to vintage as possible. Our single coil pickup sets are wound just like the originals with no reverse wind. This is to maintain the vintage correct polarity originally produced on the original sets. If you would like reverse wound polarity on a set for hum cancelling purposes, please contact us and request this.
Note: Stratocaster and Telecaster style pickups that are reverse wound only produce hum cancelling in positions 2 and 4 on Strats and middle position on Telecasters.
If you have other rewinding requests, i.e. Hotter wind, or reverse wound please let us know.
Rewinding fee is $55 per coil
Pickup fee is $60 per coil
